Regional celebration of Menstrual Hygiene Day in Tanzania

‘Menstruation matters to everyone, everywhere’ is this year’s theme of Menstruation Hygiene Day. And it matters to MKAJI and UMATA partners as well. They join hands to break the silence surrounding menstruation, creating awareness on the importance of proper menstrual hygiene management.

Staff of MKAJI and UMATA projects, started this week with awareness creation about menstrual hygiene management at rural schools and health facilities in Kongwa district.

On Friday 27th of May there is a panel discussion on menstrual hygiene management at a local radio station. A team of experts will be there to receive questions from listeners and discuss about their opinions.

May 28, International Menstrual Hygiene Day, will be celebrated  with songs and dances inspired by the theme of 2016 by women groups. In addition, the partners are very honored to  receive two high level guests that will speech at this special day: Mr. Juma Motoka,  the national sanitation & hygiene coordinator, and Ms. Lilian Matinga, District Executive Director.
