1925: missionary doctor H. Bervoets and dr. Joh. van der Spek set up the organisation Simavi to offer help in Dutch east Indies.
The help focused on medical aid.
1931: the first newsletter 'Medical Urgency' is published to provide people with information on the work of Simavi
1948: Dr. Royer (Chair), dr. Winckel (Secretary) and Mr Saathof (Director Simavi) check the supply of important medicines before they are sent.
1985: Simavi releases a Dutch book for youngsters, in which the Dutch girl Anne (20) reports on her experiences in India.
1999: In India Dr. Adenwalla devotes himself entirely to the operation of harelip children from poor families. In 1999 dr. Adenwalla has helped the 7000th child.
2008: Simavi hands over a signed petition with over 1 million signatures to Minister Bert Koenders who promised to put sanitation high on the agenda of the coming VN.
